There was held a working meeting at the Ministry of Economy with the leadership of RUE "Chernomorenergo" and representatives of the security structures of the republic on November 13, the press service of the ministry reports.
Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy Christina Ozgan asked the representatives of Chernomoenergo to report on the current state of affairs, as well as comment on the accident occurred on the Achguara high-voltage line, as a result of which almost all of Abkhazia was left without electricity.
The management of RUE "Chernomorenergo" reported to minister on how things are going with the implementation of a set of measures to stabilize the situation in the industry, as well as on the results of the commission's work to identify illegally connected objects to the networks.
Director General of RUE Chernomorenergo Mikhail Logua said that Chernomorenergo received 125 applications for the provision of "Technical conditions for connecting to the power grid" since September 21, when the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers "On measures to regulate the mining of cryptocurrencies" entered into force. According to Logua, this is only a small part of those who are engaged in cryptocurrency mining, no more than 20%.
The commission of employees of RUE "Chernomorenergo" together with representatives of law enforcement agencies almost daily reveals more and more facts of illegal connections in houses, garages, basements and sheds. The measures taken will not be able to provide the population with the required amount of electricity in winter, even taking into account the overflow.
Vice Prime Minister K. Ozgan told that the Ministry of Economy sent inquiries to the heads of ministries and departments, heads of administrations of regions and Sukhum to provide information on the facts of carrying out activities for the extraction of cryptocurrencies at state facilities.
“We must first of all ask ourselves. If we demand that people fulfill their obligations to legalize their activities, then all government agencies must unconditionally fulfill these obligations. All information that will be formed in the Ministry of Economy based on the results of requests will be sent to the relevant authorities, ” Ozgan said.
In the next two weeks, the priority task is to organize trips to the districts in order to disconnect illegal users from the power system of the republic and, as a result, reduce the load on the power system as a whole.
At the end of the meeting, Ozgan announced her intention to hold working meetings with heads of administrations and representatives of local villages in order to inform the population about the work being done.
