During the meeting they discussed a number of issues of bilateral cooperation of transport complex development including the railroad and expansion of the throughput capacity of the border crossing on the Psou River.

This issue was initiated by President Aslan Bzhania at a meeting with President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, held in November 2020 in Sochi.

As you know, the capacity of the new bridge built in 2010, is limited and does not take into account the upward trend. The current citrus season is a vivid illustration of this. Russian colleagues proposed two scenarios. The Abkhaz side voiced its interest not only in the reconstruction of the bridge, but to significantly increase the possibilities of the border crossing on the Psou River.

At this stage, there is being developed a justification. The timing and sources of funding will be made based on its results. The next stages will be the development of design estimates and construction work.
