These days the delegation of Rostourism is in Abkhazia with an official visit at the invitation of the Minister of Tourism of Abkhazia Teimuraz Khishba.
Welcoming the guests, Vladimir Delba outlined the main priorities for the economic sector development, one of which is tourism. He voiced the interest of the republic's leadership in attracting investments.
Also, Vladimir Delba stressed that Abkhazia values relations with a strategic partner - Russia, and intends to develop them in all areas.
The participants of the meeting substantively discussed the issues of interaction between Abkhazia and Russia in the tourism sector, namely, training for the hospitality industry, insurance of tourists and ensuring their safety, construction of facilities with high-quality sanatorium and medical services, etc.
“They love Abkhazia in Russia, many Russians come here, this is important for us. Every year the flow is growing and new players, new tour operators come to the tourism market,” said Dmitry Davydenko.
He expressed his conviction that in 2021 the flow of Russian tourists to Abkhazia will be a record one.
“Already all Russian large travel companies have some kind of line in Abkhazia. Additional measures need to be taken in order for a tourist arriving in Abkhazia to be satisfied. These are training and retraining of personnel in the field of tourism, as well as service, ” he said.
The head of the Public Council under the Federal Agency for Tourism of the Russian Federation stressed the importance of building additional facilities. “We are planning to do this,” he said, noting that these issues were also discussed during the working trip of Minister of Tourism of Abkhazia Teimuraz Khishba to Russia.
Minister of Tourism attaches great importance to cooperation with Russian tourism departments.
“This is the first meeting in such a format, and it is very important for our republic, for the development of its tourism potential. Our guests are specialists of the highest category, and we hope for fruitful cooperation, ” said Khishba, noting the special support of the Head of Rostourism Dmitry Davydenko in this matter.
Teimuraz Khishba also said that the day before, negotiations were held in Abkhazia with representatives of the largest tourist organizations.
“It was about the construction of a five-star resort complex that could function all year round. This is very important for Abkhazia, ” he said.
Representatives of Rostourism were interested in the opening of the airport. Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy Christina Ozgan spoke about the project implementation for the Sukhum airport reconstruction and the reconstruction of the old bridge on the Psou River.
Following the talks, there was signed a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Ministry of Tourism of Abkhazia and the Institute of International Law and Economics named after A.S. Griboyedov. The document was signed by Minister of Tourism of the Republic of Abkhazia Teimuraz Khishba and Vice-Rector of the Institute of International Law and Economics named after A.S. Griboyedov Nikolay Korolev.
