The delegation of the Federal Air Transport Agency was met by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy Christina Ozgan. Deputy Head of the Federal Agency Oleg Storochevoy and Head of the Airport Operations Department Alexander Averkiev together with Neradko arrived in Abkhazia.

The issue of restoring the operation of the airport was previously discussed at a meeting between presidents of Russia and Abkhazia, Vladimir Putin and Aslan Bzhania in Sochi in November last year. Head of the Federal Air Transport Agency came to Abkhazia to inspect the airport and personally assess the state of the complex.

There has been created a working group from representatives of the relevant departments of the two countries to resolve the issue of resuming air traffic. The interaction is constructive and is currently moving into a practical plane: a roadmap has been developed, consultations with design organizations are underway.

As part of a one-day visit, Alexander Neradko met with President Aslan Bzhania. Also, there was held a working meeting at the Presidential Office with representatives of both sides.
