Servicemen of a mobile versatile hospital of the Southern Military District began to march on their own with standard equipment about 800 kilometers long from Budennovsk, Stavropol Territory, to the capital of the Republic of Abkhazia, Sukhum.

The mobile medical unit consists of 112 servicemen and 30 units of special military equipment.

Upon completion of the march, the mobile hospital will be deployed as soon as possible in Sukhum, where military doctors will begin to receive and provide medical care to population of the Republic of Abkhazia.

“The mobile hospital is a field medical unit dedicated to inpatient treatment of patients with a new coronavirus infection.  The hospital is equipped with artificial ventilation devices, monitors for intensive observation of patients, X-ray machines, ultrasound machines, blood analyzers, " the press service says.

On October 12, Minister of Defense of Abkhazia Vladimir Anua asked Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Sergey Shoigu to deploy a field hospital in the republic in connection with a sharp increase of people infected with coronavirus infection.

The total number of people infected in Abkhazia reached 2,672. 93 new cases of infection were detected per day.
