"Dear Aslan Georgievich, I am very glad to see you! I think we last saw each other at the Victory Parade in Moscow. But now there is an opportunity to talk about how our interstate relations are developing.
Unfortunately , the pandemic has an impact on the economy. Although, Russia remains partner number one, more than 70 percent of the total economic turnover of the republic is with Russia. We have very significant areas of cooperation. I'm not talking about tourism, but there are other components: economy, telecommunications. All this should be the subject of our discussion today. I hope that the assistance that Russian doctors provide to the republic in the fight against the pandemic is also significant. I know that our specialists are working in the red zone of the Gudauta hospital. And military doctors are also working. All these and other issues we can discuss here in a calm atmosphere and then at a working breakfast, " said Russian President Vladimir Putin, welcoming Bzhania.
President Aslan Bzhania expressed gratitude for the meeting.
“This is the first time we have a meeting in this format. Taking this opportunity, I would like to express my gratitude on behalf of the multinational people of Abkhazia to the Russian people, to you personally, Vladimir Vladimirovich, for the support and assistance that you have been rendering us over the years. This is grateful. Friends, as you know, get to know in trouble. Recently, we once again felt this support. I would like to thank the leadership of the Ministry of Defense for the hospital they deployed in Sukhum. Russian doctors are providing great help to us. For several months Russian doctors have come to our hospital in Gudauta. And this is undoubtedly an invaluable contribution in these conditions. Rospotrebnadzor is also helping us. We are grateful to you for all this. The leadership of Abkhazia intends to implement the agreements that were signed because this fully corresponds to the interests of Abkhazia. And all this works to strengthen its statehood and sovereignty, " said Aslan Bzhania.
The RA President called Vladimir Putin a welcome guest and invited him to visit Abkhazia.
