Earlier, Abkhazia asked Russia to provide a batch of vaccine. It will be free and voluntary, similar to influenza vaccination.
President Aslan Bzhania expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation for the assistance provided to the republic in the fight against COVID-19.
The meeting discussed issues of Abkhaz-Russian cooperation in the field of healthcare, in particular, issues of assistance in the fight against coronavirus infection, vaccination of citizens of Abkhazia.
This year, a delegation from the Ministry of Health of Russia and Rospotrebnadzor visited Abkhazia twice. There has been established a system for the export of seriously coronavirus infected to medical institutions of Russia. Groups of doctors from 3 to 8 people from federal medical centers, medical workers from different regions of Russia come to the covid center in Gudauta to help Abkhaz doctors, replacing each other, for three weeks. Epidemiologists and virologists of the Stavropol Anti-Plague Institute also come to work in the republican bacterial laboratory. The installation of PCR equipment was carried out with support of Russian colleagues, 50 thousand diagnostic test systems were received as humanitarian aid. Organizational and methodological assistance to Abkhaz doctors in the diagnosis and treatment of patients is being provided.
There was noted the high level of interaction between the two states in the field of healthcare and in other areas.
A positive example of cooperation is interaction in implementation of the Agreement between Abkhazia and Russia on insurance of citizens of the Russian Federation permanently residing in the territory of the Republic of Abkhazia. More than 50 thousand Russian citizens living in Abkhazia have been insured in the compulsory medical insurance system. More than 4,000 citizens received specialized medical care over a year and a half.
Also, the Agreement between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Abkhazia on the provision of medicines and medical products to certain categories of citizens of the Russian Federation permanently residing in the territory of the Republic of Abkhazia is being successfully implemented. The budget of the agreement is 50 million rubles annually. 8500 citizens of the Russian Federation are registered as disabled people.
They also discussed a draft intergovernmental agreement prepared by the Abkhaz side on the construction of a modern cardiological center in Abkhazia. The implementation of this project will make it possible to provide specialized high-tech care for patients with cardiovascular diseases.
Also, as part of the Investment Program for 2021-2022 medical and technical assignment for the construction of a republican children's hospital was prepared and agreed with the RF Ministry of Health.
