About 80 thousand people and 15 thousand cars crossed the border in both directions over the past weekend.
Sukhum. August 10, 2020. Apsnypress. The increase of transport and passenger traffic at customs checkpoint in Adler continues. According to press service of the Sochi customs, customs control passed about 50 thousand vehicles, including more than 45 thousand cars, 1,700 trucks, 1,600 buses, in both directions from 1 to 10 August. During this period, up to 230 thousand people crossed the Russian-Abkhaz border. About 80 thousand people and 15 thousand cars crossed the border over the past weekend in both directions.
Due to increase of vehicles and tourists flow, the Sochi customs officers are working in an enhanced mode. There are 23 traffic lanes in both directions, including a reserve lane opened to increase the checkpoint capacity. Reverse movement is used on cargo control lines. The staffing of the post has been increased due to secondment of officials from other customs posts.
The load at the customs checkpoint in Adler exceeds the capacity several times. Up to 7 thousand vehicles, and 40 thousand individuals cross the border per day.
