The Abkhaz side has already prepared and agreed with Russia a draft agreement on a facilitated procedure for obtaining Russian citizenship by citizens of Abkhazia. President Aslan Bzhania signed an order on the signing of an agreement between Abkhazia and Russia on the settlement of issues of dual citizenship and sent it to the Russian side on August 25 this year. It took a year to prepare a solution to this issue.

“The agreement will allow residents of Abkhazia to obtain Russian citizenship in a simplified manner. The very procedure for submitting an application for admission to Russian citizenship, the list of documents to be submitted and the procedure for considering applications will be determined by a decree of President of the Russian Federation, after the agreement is signed. We have completed our part of the work. This mechanism will be used, ” Bzhania said.
