The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia calls on public and political figures of Russia to refrain from statements contradicting the official position of the Russian state, affecting the interests of the Republic of Abkhazia and concerning the political status of our country.
*** Commentary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia
We drew attention to the appeals of a number of well-known political and public figures of Russia for unification with the Russian Federation of Belarus, Abkhazia, South Ossetia, Transnistria, as well as the DPR and LPR, which appeared in the context of the events in Belarus.
Without denying the possibility of discussing certain integration projects within the Eurasian space, we consider it necessary to pay special attention to the political status of the Republic of Abkhazia.
The sovereign political status of the Republic of Abkhazia is determined by the Constitution, the Act on State Independence and was legally recognized by the decree of the President of the Russian Federation of August 26, 2008. This decision became one of the most significant in the history of Abkhazia, creating qualitatively new opportunities to ensure security, political stability and socio-economic development of the country.
Once again, we would like to emphasize that the political status of the Republic of Abkhazia is not subject to revision and is irreversible.
Interstate Abkhaz-Russian relations, which are of a strategic nature, fully correspond to the interests of Abkhazia and Russia, and correspond to modern political realities.
In this regard, we would like to call on public and political figures of Russia to refrain from statements contradicting the official position of the Russian state, affecting the interests of the Republic of Abkhazia and concerning the political status of our country.
