The servicemen of the Southern Military District, together with the servicemen of the Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Emergency Situations and State Security Service of Abkhazia, conducted the first phase of the joint strategic command-staff exercise at the training ground.

The maneuvers were observed by President Aslan Bzhania, First Deputy Minister of Defense, Colonel-General Beslan Tsvizhba, commander of the Southern Military District in Abkhazia Oleg Senkov and generals of the joint group of the armed forces of the two countries.

According to the scenario of the exercise, the joint forces of motorized rifle, artillery, anti-aircraft missile units and subunits anti-aircraft defense found and carried out total destruction by massive fire of terrorist groups of illegal armed formations on the mountain slopes of the Caucasian ridge.The actions took place on the ground and in the sky, with the support of the aviation forces of the Southern Military District and the Republic of Abkhazia as part of the reconnaissance and attack helicopters KA-52 "Alligatator ", MI-24, MI-8 and MI-8 AMTSH" Terminator " with airmobile groups on board.

During the exercise, the servicemen demonstrated to President the latest forms of tactical military art using the experience of participation in modern armed conflicts. The RA Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief was satisfied with the joint maneuvers.

The exercises take place from September 21 to 26. More than 1.5 thousand servicemen and 500 units of military equipment take part in them.
