As the RA Foreign Ministry's website reported, opening the event, Ambassador of the Republic of Abkhazia to the Syrian Arab Republic Bagrat Khutaba noted the rich long history of relations between Syria and Abkhazia: “Our diaspora in Syria has participated for centuries in the development of the Syrian Arab state and in ensuring the defense and security of the country ... Thanks to our common efforts, we will continue to support and develop these relations, ” the ambassador stressed.

Head of the Presidential Office of the Republic of Abkhazia Alkhas Kvitsinia noted in his welcoming speech: “The Embassy of the Republic of Abkhazia in the Syrian Arab Republic was established on July 29, 2020. This event became an important and historical step in development of relations between the two states. We highly appreciate this step by the leadership of the Syrian Arab Republic. We are confident that our relations will develop in a spirit of mutual respect and cooperation."

“Today we can say that diplomatic relations have been officially established between our countries, and I am sure that these relations will develop not only in the political plane, but also in all other directions,” said RA Foreign Minister Daur Kove.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the SAR Walid al Muallem greeted the Abkhaz delegation and congratulated on the opening of the Embassy of the Republic of Abkhazia in the SAR.
