The letter sent on October 12 by Minister of Defense of the Republic of Abkhazia Vladimir Anua to Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Sergey Shoigu reads:

"We appeal to you with a request to urgently provide us with assistance to deploy temporary field medical hospital for 500 beds and medical staff, specialized equipment and necessary medicines."

This request of the RA Ministry of Defense is explained by a sharp deterioration of epidemiological situation in the republic and a significant increase in the number of COVID-19 cases.

Taking this opportunity, Minister of Defense of Abkhazia showed his Russian counterpart high respect and thanked him for contribution to strengthening friendship between our states.

The letter was preceded by consultations with the leadership of the Russian military department, the RA Defense Ministry told Apsnypress.
