Alkhas Kondzharia, due to a shortage of medical personnel and a large number of patients in Gudauta hospital, took over the duty himself, noting that it was his professional duty.
Deputy minister called the situation in the covid hospital difficult.
"The situation in the Central Covid Hospital has not changed for the better. Taking into account that our Russian colleagues who had previously been on duty in the infectious unit have left, the burden completely fell on our doctors. Now the maximum number of doctors is on duty in the hospital. We called everyone who could from different medical institution of the country ", - Kondzharia said."
There is a lack of both doctors and nursing staff. Having arrived here and directly familiarized myself with the situation, I can say the following: our doctors work both as orderlies and as loaders, they do any job. Of course, the nurses help them, but they it id not enough. Doctors are real people, and they also get sick. And this increases the workload, " Kondzharia noted.
Deputy Minister stressed that despite the lack of medical staff, patients are given careful attention.
"Doctors twice, or even three times bypass patients. All doctors work hard. And I want to thank my colleagues for their hard work, " said Kondzharia.
There are no problems with medical equipment and medicines.
" Of course, there are situations when certain groups of expensive drugs are needed. In this case, people turn to Health Ministry. Ministry provides the necessary assistance ", - said Kondzharia.
The X-ray room and the computed tomography room are heavily loaded. Many patients require a CT examination, so the results of the examination are sometimes issued the next day.
The beds in the covid center are not empty. As soon as one patient is discharged, a new patient is immediately taken in his place. The state of health of most of the patients is moderate and serious.
Alkhas Kondzharia believes that the increase in the number of patients is due to the fact that our citizens do not observe the necessary precautions.
"Unfortunately, not everyone followed restrictive measures. On holidays, many did not stay at home, did not observe the mask regime. This has led to an increase in the incidence. We expect that soon there will be a decline in the number of patients, but so far this is not happening, ” deputy minister said.
Alkhas Kondzharia appealed to the residents of the country with a request to adhere to quarantine measures: "I would like to appeal to everyone and ask them to strictly observe all the measures that the government and medical workers tell us about. We ask everyone to wear masks, not to visit crowded places, to limit visits to relatives, special events. We all must show consciousness and responsibility for our own health and the health of those around us, " Kondzharia emphasized.
These days Alkhas Kondzharia is on duty in a covid hospital in Gudauta."
Assessing the situation from the outside, you have one picture, but immersed in the process of work, you evaluate it somewhat from the other side.First of all, I am a health worker, a doctor and I cannot stand aside when my colleagues are under tremendous stress and need help. I am not an infectious disease specialist, not a therapist, not a resuscitator, but a vascular surgeon, but, nevertheless, I have knowledge that can be useful. After staying here for several days, I realized that I had to come much earlier, ” summed up Kondzharia.
For her part, Angelina Otyrba noted: "Recently, we have received older patients, but, unfortunately, there are people of 28-30 years old in rather serious condition, with complications, bilateral pneumonia. Age patients mainly with concomitant diseases."
Despite all the warnings, our citizens very actively celebrated both the New Year and the Old New Year. Because of this, the older generation suffered " the doctor stated with regret.
According to Otyrba, they have to ask relatives to take care for sick, due to the lack of junior and middle medical personnel.
Despite the calls of medical volunteers ready to help in the work of the hospital, there are only a few of them.
The last team of Russian intensive care doctors left on December 25.
