The state border of Abkhazia with the Russian Federation along the Psou River, after a four-month quarantine in 2020, was opened on August 1. Citizens of Abkhazia and Russia, as well as residents of the DPR and LPR, can cross it without hindrance.

"There are rules that worked last year, we are not going to change them or complicate them. Now much depends on the decisions that the Russian authorities will make. We will be as loyal as possible," President said.

Bzhania noted that this year Abkhazia is expecting a large flow of tourists, and "everything will be much better than last year, including the attitude towards tourists." According to him, law enforcement agencies of the republic are seriously preparing for the tourist season in order to provide "the most comfortable conditions."

In addition, the institutions that receive and accommodate tourists are provided with the necessary funds "to minimize the consequences if a patient is found." "The significance of the problem is extremely clear for everyone. If a certain amount of time ago people brushed aside, did not believe in this story, now everyone understands. And we can say that we have already developed immunity  in relation to this problem, including psychological," Bzhania said.
