Before coming to his family, the head of state honored the memory of Walid Marchan by laying flowers at his grave.

The Abkhazian delegation was met by the widow of General Zhanset Kazanba and his son Khalid Marshan.

Welcoming the guests the son of Walid Marchan noted that this is a historic day for their family.

“Diasporas of the North Caucasus in Syria took part in all significant state events of our country. Syrian Caucasians, including Abkhazians, have made a huge contribution to the defense of our homeland. About a hundred people from the North Caucasus were killed in the ranks of the Syrian army and the national militia. We have defended our republic thanks to the steadfastness of our President Bashar al-Assad. You honored us by visiting our house today. Thank you and all the Abkhazian delegation, ” Khamad said.

He presented Aslan Bzhania a gift on behalf of the entire Marchan family.

“Let me give you the sword of General Abaza, it was with him when he graduated from the military academy. It is invaluable to us. I am sure it will be safe and sound in your hands , ” said Khamad Marshan.

Zhanset Kazanba thanked Aslan Bzhania for the visit. “ We are giving you this sword as a sign of devotion for the fact that on the land of our ancestors in Sukhum there was erected a monument to Walid Marshan. It is very important for us. We want this sword to be in Sukhum, ” Zhanset Kazanba said.

Aslan Bzhania thanked the family for the warm welcome.

“We know very well that your family has done a lot for the Syrian Arab Republic. The name of General Walid Marshan, your names are inscribed in golden letters not only in the history of Syria, but also Abkhazia. I ask God for your family and the entire Syrian people to live in health, peace and prosperity , ” Bzhania said.

At the end of the meeting, President Aslan Bzhania and Speaker of the Parliament Valery Kvarchia presented gifts to the family of General Walid Marchan.
