Speaking to the media after signing the agreement, Valery Kvarchia said:
“We have just had a meeting with the chairman of the Syrian People's Council, Mr. Sabbag. First of all, I would like to express my satisfaction with our communication with colleagues and to thank for the warm welcome.
Our countries have long been linked by friendly, cultural and human relations and our visit to Syria is a continuation of all the good that we have today.
The main result of today's meeting is the signing of an agreement on inter-parliamentary cooperation between the People's Assembly of Parliament of the Republic of Abkhazia and the People's Council of Syria.
I am confident that this agreement will play a special role in further development of friendly relations between our parliaments. "
There was created a permanent Commission for Cooperation of the People's Assembly - the Parliament of the Republic of Abkhazia and the People's Council of Syria in accordance with the signed document. Its composition has already been determined, the Parliament of Abkhazia is represented by 7 deputies.
Astamur Logua, chairman of the parliamentary committee on international, inter-parliamentary relations and relations with compatriots, became the co-chairman of the committee from the Abkhaz side.
“Undoubtedly, this agreement will contribute the deepening of relations between Syria and Abkhazia in the political, socio-economic, humanitarian and other spheres, development of various forms of inter-parliamentary cooperation. We intend to exchange parliamentary delegations and experience in lawmaking, information about our work, legislative acts, " Kvarchia stressed.
Taking this opportunity, Speaker of the Parliament of Abkhazia wished the Syrian parliamentarians and the entire people of Syria peace, good and prosperity.
