Ozgan described the situation on the fuel market as very difficult.
“There has been a significant increase in the cost indicators for the fuel supply since December last year. The increase is about 12% since the beginning of last year. Deliveries in July have already had significant price changes, and the cost of deliveries in August differs from that in July. The selling price in these months is lower than the purchase price. All these factors can affect the occurrence of fuel shortages in the country, ” she said.
Currently, the Ministry of Economy is preparing proposals to change prices for petroleum products.
“This is due to the fact that Abkhazia cannot influence the cost of fuel supply, since it does not have its own production facilities. Fuel is supplied from the Russian Federation, and it is common knowledge that the price situation on the Russian fuel market is very difficult now, ” said Christina Ozgan.
Minister of Economy does not undertake to predict a decline in prices for petroleum products.
“On the one hand, there is an obvious increased demand for oil products, and on the other, from August to September, some of the factories are taking preventive maintenance. We cannot restrain the current price limit for the period from August to September and are forced to turn to the government with a proposal to change the pricing policy for oil products, ” said Christina Ozgan.
Prime Minister instructed the Ministry of Economy to hold a meeting with oil products suppliers participation and to discuss options for resolving this situation.
