PRESIDENT OF THE CCI OF ABKHAZIA TAKES PART IN THE III EURASIAN WOMEN'S FORUM IN ST. PETERSBURG

Sukhum. October 15, 2021. Apsnypress. President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Abkhazia Tamila Mertskhulava takes part in the III Eurasian Women's Forum in St. Petersburg at the invitation of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the Interparliamentary Assembly of Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

The forum has been held on a regular basis since 2015. It has become a large-scale international discussion platform that brings together participants from all continents to discuss the role of women in the modern world and develop common approaches to solving global problems.

The III Eurasian Women's Forum is attended by women parliamentarians, representatives of executive authorities, international organizations, business circles, the scientific community, public organizations, heads of charitable projects, authoritative figures of the international women's movement.

President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry is participating in such an event for the second time.

During the forum, issues of empowering women and their role in politics, development of the digital economy, innovative development of the social sphere, ensuring environmental safety, strengthening international cooperation, promoting charitable and humanitarian projects are considered.

In the context of global challenges in the world, the topic of this forum - "Women: a global mission in a new reality" - is gaining special relevance.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin stressed that the modern, dynamically changing world poses new challenges for society and states. In their decision, women play an increasingly significant role.

The plenary session was opened by the Chairperson of the Federation Council, Chairperson of the Interparliamentary Assembly of Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States Valentina Matvienko.

She noted that the Forum brought together guests from more than a hundred countries of the world, twenty-three international organizations, and all regions of Russia. And millions of Internet users from all over the world take part in the event via video communication.

UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres also sent a video greeting to the forum participants.

The business program of the forum includes plenary sessions, strategic and expert sessions.

On the sidelines of the event, exhibitions and interactive platforms were organized that demonstrate the achievements of women in science and technology, the development of creative industries, and an innovative approach to solving social problems. The main events take place on the grounds of the Tavricheskiy Palace.

The cultural program of the forum at the State Academic Mariinsky Theater was opened by People's Artist of Abkhazia and Russia Khibla Gerzmava.

“Participation in the forum is not only a powerful impetus for the development of the women's agenda around the world, but also strengthening international dialogue, integration and expanding cooperation in general,” Tamila Mertskhulava said.

In addition to the business program, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Abkhazia was invited to gala dinners and a business breakfast organized by Valentina Matvienko for the forum participants.

During the reception, Tamila Mertskhulava presented Valentina Matvienko a commemorative Abkhaz coin.

The forum ends its work on October 15.
