“The economic situation will only get worse at some stage. We are in a crisis. There are no airbags in our country, and we saw this as soon as the border was closed. The state does not have accumulated funds, we were left with such a property, ” Bzhania said.

Speaking to Ochamchira region activists, President gave some figures illustrating the socio-economic situation in the republic.

“The average salary in 2014 was 9895 rubles, and by the end of 2019 - 10,935 rubles. The growth of wages for 5 years was only 11%. The living wage per person in 2014 was 5,069 rubles, at the end of 2019 - 6,979 rubles. This amount includes the minimum set of food items that a person needs to live. This is our picture. Over the past five years we have not grown, have not begun to live richer and better, but have become poorer. In general, our incomes per person have decreased by 30%, ” the head of state said.

The number of jobs in the country has not increased either.

“The number of jobs at the beginning of 2015 was 42 thousand, at the end of 2019 the figure remained the same. In the first half of 2020, the number of jobs decreased by three thousand, and this trend, unfortunately, will continue. It follows from this that the government needs to take anti-crisis measures, ” the head of state stressed.
