Currently, there are 91 patients at Gudauta Covid Hospital, 89 of them have COVID-19. Five people are in serious condition, 33 patients of moderate severity. 19 people were discharged after treatment.

A covid-positive patient born in 1959 died at Gudauta hospital on September 23. He was admitted by an ambulance to the intensive care unit of the Republican hospital late in the evening of September 19 in an extremely serious condition with pronounced signs of respiratory failure. During examination, the patient was found to have bilateral polysegmental pneumonia with severe lung damage. On the morning of September 20, the patient was transported to Gudauta hospital, where, despite intensive therapy and connection to mechanical ventilation, the patient died from an increase in respiratory and heart failure. The patient had severe concomitant somatic diseases, before calling the ambulance, he was treated at home for several days.

This is the eighth fatal case since the beginning of the spread of coronavirus infection in Abkhazia.
