The address reads:
“Dear compatriots!
Today we are celebrating one of the most tragic and at the same time heroic dates in the history of the War of Abkhazia. 28 years ago, on March 15, 1993, the soldiers of the Gumista front launched a large-scale offensive to liberate Sukhum from the Georgian invaders. Units of the Abkhaz army crossed the Gumista River and captured strategically important heights near the capital of Abkhazia, some units managed to break through into the city. During the operation, which went down in the history as the March Offensive, the defenders of the Motherland showed miracles of courage and heroism, they inflicted enormous damage on the enemy in manpower and equipment.
Unfortunately, the operation did not reach its goal, our troops had to retreat. More than 200 soldiers of the Abkhaz army were killed in these battles, several hundred people were injured, and more than 20 were missing. We bow before the memory of our Heroes who gave their lives for the freedom of Abkhazia.
Our main task is to protect the independence of Abkhazia and make it a prosperous country, as thousands of sons and daughters of the Motherland dreamed of. Eternal glory to the Heroes! "
