Sukhum. March 15, 2021. Apsnypress. Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy Christina Ozgan inspects a number of facilities in Gudauta and Gagra.

School No. 7 in Gudauta was renovated as part of the Investment Program in 2019, but was not equipped with the necessary furniture and equipment.

On behalf of the Minister of Economy, the Capital Construction Directorate organized the full equipping of the school in the amount of 8 million 120 thousand rubles.

They purchased furniture for classrooms, equipped the dining room with everything necessary, equipped a gym, an assembly hall, a language laboratory, as well as classrooms for chemistry and biology.

All work was completed by the time the children arrived at school after quarantine.

Now the school has 256 children in 22 classes, but with new equipment it can accommodate up to 450 students.

The headmaster of the school Inna Khalvash thanked the Minister of Economy for the support provided and noted that such equipment would improve the quality of the educational process.

Christina Ozgan, accompanied by the head of the UKS Timur Agrba, and acting Head of the Gudauta District Administration Bagrat Bodzhgua examined the school and appreciated the work done.

Timur Agrba informed Kristina Ozgan that the contractor completed the work in in full.

“This object was completed in 2019 under the Investment Program. Unfortunately, the purchase of furniture and equipment was not provided for this object. On behalf of President, we carried out the appropriate work to supply the necessary furniture and equipment here,” said Christina Ozgan.

Further, Minister of Economy visited the Gudauta Central Hospital, where they are about to complete work on the creation of an oxygen station to provide the hospital with a centralized oxygen supply system. According to the contractor, at the moment the station has already been installed and three floors of the main building of the hospital are provided with oxygen in all 132 wards. In two weeks, this system will be connected to the infectious unit as well. It remains to carry out work on the improvement of the territory, cover the station with a canopy and lay a connecting route to the infectious block.

“The oxygen station has three tanks. Transport, the main gasifier, which converts liquid oxygen into gaseous medical oxygen of 99.9% purity. And the third tank is equipped with a compressor in order to pump oxygen into cylinders and centrally supply other hospitals in the republic, ” contractor Maxim Epifanovsky shared the details of the station's work.

Gudauta hospital will now be able to supply all hospitals in the country with not only the purest oxygen, but also the cheapest. The prime cost of filling a cylinder will be about 120-140 rubles, while now the average price for filling a cylinder in Abkhazia is about 350 rubles.

The head physician of Gudauta hospital, Khadzharat Shamba, noted that the appearance of the station would have a qualitative impact on the results of treatment and stressed that it was not easy to implement this project, since it was not an easy task to get such equipment due to the pandemic.

“It is difficult to get even oxygen concentrators now, not just to equip the station. Thanks to the contractor they did it,” Shamba said.

Christina Ozgan reported that the estimated cost of the oxygen station was 16.5 million rubles.

“There were identified funding sources for the implementation of measures related to the fight against coronavirus infection with a total cost of 152 million rubles in November, in an agreement with the Russian side. This action plan included a number of items, including the purchase of medicines, ventilators, additional payments for medical workers and the installation of an oxygen station. All the measures envisaged by this program have been implemented and the obligations have been fulfilled, ” Minister of Economy said.

Then Deputy Prime Minister visited Gagra Secondary School No. 1, which has 450 children. The construction of the school was completed in 2019, however, it was not fully staffed. On behalf of President, they began to implement a project to equip the school with the necessary equipment in the fall of the last year. Now work is still underway, but almost all the equipment has been delivered. Air conditioners and electric curtains were purchased for the assembly hall, special classes were equipped for labor lessons with boys (workshop) and girls (sewing equipment). The class for boys is already functioning and the guys even managed to make a bench, which now adorns the hall of the school.

An open sports ground has been equipped with basketball backboards and stands. We bought some of the missing kitchen equipment for the school canteen. In addition, there was bought and installed a transformer. The estimated cost of the project was 4 million 300 thousand rubles.

“During the commissioning period, it was noted that the school was understaffed. As noted earlier, there are certain problems with the quality of the completed construction work, ” said Christina Ozgan. Part of the tiles in the corridors cracked, some slabs peeled off, cracks appeared on the walls, and cracks are also visible on the concrete around the building, which is associated with the shrinkage of the new building. Ozgan instructed Director of the UKS to keep all these issues under control and instruct the contractors to eliminate the shortcomings, since the warranty period has not yet expired.

The construction of the school costs 336 million rubles.

“It should be noted that the area and the cost of the object do not meet the requirements so that we can talk about the high-quality construction of the school, because the cost per square meter was clearly low. But, nevertheless, we will eliminate these problems with the contractor and keep them under control, ” Ozgan said.
